Introduction: :

UK undergraduate qualifications are respected and valued all over the world. A bachelor's degree, Higher National Diploma or Foundation Degree from a UK college or university gives a distinct edge when competing for a job or a place on a postgraduate course. The BTEC Higher National Diploma in Business is regarded as the equivalent to the first two years of an Honours Degree course at a British University. If a student successfully completes the course with sufficiently high standards, it can lead to graduate status employment. Alternatively, the student can take a direct entry to the final year of a related Honours Degree through university third year top-up schemes. A number of universities offer such top-up programmes

Eligibility Criteria :


• Students should normally be aged 17 years or above.
• They mst possess five GCSEs, at least one GCE ('A' level) or a BTEC National Certificate/Diploma or an equivalent qualification (such as an International Baccalaureate)
• Indian students should have cleared their intermediate exams.
• Students must possess a sound knowledge of the English language both written and spoken to Upper Intermediate/ First Certificate Level.
• Mature candidates (over 21 years of age) may be considered for concessional entry on the basis of experience and/or other approved prior learning, as per the discretion of BIML's Board of Directors.


BTEC Higher Nationals in Business aim to develop the following skills :


• cognitive skills of critical thinking, analysis and synthesis
• effective problem solving and decision making using appropriate quantitative and qualitative skills including identifying, formulating and solving business problems
• effective communication, oral and in writing, using a range of media widely used in business eg the preparation and presentation of business reports
• numeric and quantitative skills including data analysis, interpretation and extrapolation; the use of models of business problems and phenomena
• effective use of communication and information technology for business applications effective self-management in terms of time,
• planning and behaviour, motivation, self-starting, individual initiative and enterprise developing an appropriate learning style
• self-awareness, openness and sensitivity to diversity in terms of people, cultures, business and management issues
• effective performance within a team environment including leadership, team-building, influencing and project-management skills
• Interpersonal skills of effective listening, negotiating, persuading and presentation abilities to conduct research into business and management issues.

Course Design :


The course follows the British Curriculum. It consists of eight core units plus eight specialist units that provide a combined total of sixteen units of 60 learning hours each. This totals to 960 guided learning hours (GLH) for the entire qualification spread over two academic years. The course is structured around formal classes, video-conferencing lectures, seminars, and case studies. In addition, students will be expected to undertake private study. The course is designed to contain a balance of practical skill development and knowledge requirements, some of which are theoretical in nature.

Assessment :


Continuous assessments under a clearly specified internal assessment plan. The aim is to test the students on multiple dimensions that demonstrate skill development and theoretical clarity.

Terms & Conditions. Currently offered by Bentham Institute of Management & Languages, Hyderabad. Amount will be the course fee for 1 year (excluding any examination fee), maximum Rs. 1,50,000/-.
